Marketplace Events Acquires Washington Home & Garden Show
Will
now host four annual shows in the D.C. area
D.C. (June 14, 2011) —Marketplace Events announced today that it has acquired
the Washington Home & Garden Show held annually at the Walter E. Washington
Convention Center, bringing a fourth show to its roster in the region.
Marketplace Events already produces the largest home & garden shows in the
area at the Dulles Expo Center facility in Chantilly, Va., offering guests
seasonal home and garden tips and tricks from industry experts.
“Our acquisition of the D.C. Convention Center show complements our other
shows that currently attract residents in Northern Virginia,” said Paul
Schweitzer, vice president of business development for Marketplace Events. “The
size and central location of the convention center holds tremendous potential
and our intent is to grow this event into one of the largest home and garden
shows in the country.”
The newly acquired Washington Home & Garden Show will be significantly
larger than in years past and will attract homeowners not only from the Maryland
and Northern Virginia suburbs, but also offer District of Columbia residents
advice on urban living. The show will open its doors March 9-11, 2012.
The three shows to be produced by Marketplace Events at the Dulles Expo
Center are: the Capital Home Show, September 23-25, 2011; the first-ever Home
& Remodeling Show, January 20-22, 2012; and the Capital Home & Garden
Show, February 24-26, 2012.
This announcement comes on the heels of other
major developments for Marketplace Events across North America. Recently the
announcement was made that the company’s National Home Show in Toronto, ON will
colocate with Canada Blooms: The Flower & Garden Festival at the Direct
Energy Center in 2012 and subsequent years, creating the single largest home and
garden event in North America. Additionally Marketplace Events announced the
launch of a Home & Garden Show in Ark. to take place January 27-29, 2012 at
the new Little Rock Expo Center.
This brings the Marketplace Events portfolio to 31 home shows produced
annually in 21 markets including nine shows in Canada and 22 in the U.S.
