Are you the first one to check Klout to find out the influence of your latest follower? Marketplace Events is currently hiring a Social Media Coordinator to work in our Toronto office. We’re looking for someone who is part writer and part explorer of the internet; a strategic social thinker who loves to stand out from the crowd but understands how a thoughtful and relevant strategy can translate into networking for success.
DESCRIPTION:
This newly created entry level position will focus on leveraging and growing our current social media channels (across all Marketplace Events produced shows) to take us to the next level in social engagement. Working in our digital media department, this role coordinates with senior management, internal members of the marketing team, sales teams, and external partners.
TASK AT HAND:
Manage all corporate social profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and YouTube, LinkedIn, etc. You are responsible for the creation of social content (via a central blog) and driving the overall social presence allowing the company to engage in a more personal way with our community. In addition, you are able to build brand awareness and nurture inbound marketing leads resulting in B2B sales.
Additionally:
- Part content editor and part social butterfly, you will be the voice of our brand and work to deepen our relationships with the public
- Plan a content schedule and work flow for requesting, creating, and publishing content. While adapting the schedule based on social response (finding the sweet spot for consumption)
- Research new products to create articles & posts based on our current partners
- Create content relevant for each social channel
- Invent new ways to effectively use social channels to engage our followers
- Seek out relevant players in the social space and nurture relationships (PR, media, bloggers)
- Help develop and implement the tracking and reporting on key measurements of growth across all social accounts
- Monitor & moderate conversations happening about our various events
- Extend social networking from B2C to B2B in ways that support business goals
- Manage all channels on a daily basis, monitoring activity, and responding to public in a brand-centric voice
- Share best practices and key learning to the rest of the marketing team
- Actively take part on home & garden topical blogs and be an avid home & garden, décor enthusiast with knowledge of interior designers, and trends
- Adaptability: this position will cover a variety of interest topics such as home & garden, technology and motorcycle enthusiasts.
EXPERIENCE:
- 1-2 years of relevant social media writing experience
- Above average writing and editing skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience growing a community
- Strong analytical skills
- Passion for the internet with exceptional command of social media platforms and tools
- Experience using third party platforms to host contests and other integrated content on social sites
- Post secondary degree or diploma in communications, journalism or English (or equivalent experience)
- Knowledge of html, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Dreamweaver, and past experience with email marketing would be an asset

Administrative Assistant | Fort Washington, PA
We are hiring an administrative assistant to be responsible for providing administrative and operational support for The Philadelphia Home Show and The Washington Home and Garden Show produced by Marketplace Events. In order to be successful, the administrative assistant must demonstrate these "essential" attributes: personal energy & flair, customer focus, commitment to excellence and teamwork.
The administrative assistant effectively assists the show manager and sales team with day-to-day administrative and sales support with emphasis on:
• Processing, tracking and reporting of all exhibit space sales in Expocad (accounting system), generating receipts, invoices and payment processing
• Responsible for collection calls on all outstanding accounts receivable
• Maintaining accurate records of shows and customer data
• Effective utilization and daily updating of ACT (CRM) databases and EXPOCAD floor plan
• Updating, securing and filing all contracts for exhibitors and show partners
• Fulfilling all reception duties, including answering phones, opening and distributing mail, processing outgoing mail, filing, welcoming visitors to the office, etc.
• Collecting and collating information for show binders
• Responsible for show site office set up and visitors will call office set up
• Assisting with show preparation - coordination of show guide program, stage schedules/securing entertainment
• Pull lists for exhibitor and prospect email blasts and mailings
• Travel arrangements for staff and celebrities
• Updating show websites and exhibitor listings that appear on show websites
• Expense Reports for Show Manager
• Other duties as assigned
Desired Skills & Experience

Job Description
Job Profile: The Marketing Manager,US will report to the Marketing Director, US based out of a home office in
Asheville, NC and will be directly responsible for developing and
executing US consumer marketing and attendance-building initiatives
designed to increase attendance at 22 US consumer home shows held
annually in 14 US markets.
Requirements: This
position requires intensive travel. Candidate must be willing to travel
(approximately 65% of the time) regularly to our 14 US home show
markets and 8 US show offices.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assists
show managers in all aspects of securing and working with outside
vendors including: media buyers, PR agencies, graphic designers,
printers, advertising production, etc.
- Works with media buyer and show manager to develop media buy for each show, ensuring best practices are followed
- Works with PR agency and show manager to develop PR plan for each show, ensuring best practices are followed
- Assists
Marketing Director with organizing, leading and participating in, along
with media buyer, PR agency and show manager, all media promotional
meetings (in markets) with local media, to develop attendance-driving
promotions, features and media sponsors for each show
- Makes recommendations (along with PR agency) for potential show features or celebrity/expert appearances
- Using
show content provided from each show manager, develops copy and
oversees creative and production of all show advertising maintaining a
consistent look and feel across all shows
- Develops copy, oversees production and distributes all consumer emails
- Assists Marketing Director with overseeing trafficking of all paid and promotional media with media buyer
- Assists show manager in building of opt-in edatabase for each show both onsite and on show website
- Assists
show manager in development and implementation of online advance ticket
sales including promotions with all media and strategic partners
- Tracks advance sales vs. prior year and executes last minute promotions, discount ticket offers when sales are behind
- Assists in development of sponsorship proposals where media inclusion is requested
- Creates methods by which marketing initiatives may be tracked and tested, whenever possible.
- Oversees and distributes consumer and exhibitor online surveys, tracks results and presents key data to show managers
- Compiles
and provides detailed reports annually to each show manager including
top url referrers to show website; web stat analysis; attendee zip code
analysis; etc.
- Provides content on our consumer marketing
strategy and often presents at Exhibitor Training programs held annually
in each market (usually 50-200 in attendance)
- Codes,approves and processes all media invoices
- Provides
copies of all show marketing materials to exhibitor marketing
department for use in exhibit sales materials and post-show reports
Desired Skills & Experience
Qualifications/Skills:
- A college/university degree in advertising, marketing, Journalism or related field
- 5+ years proven experience within a marketing environment; preferably with an advertising
agency or consumer-related products/services
- Excellent copywriting skills (writing samples will be required)
- Media buying experience preferred
- Exceptional customer service focus/skills
- Must be willing to travel
- Strong inter-personal and relationship building skills – internally and externally
